Today’s Verse and Thought
““Therefore wait for me,” declares the Lord, “for the day when I rise up to seize the prey. For my decision is to gather nations, to assemble kingdoms, to pour out upon them my indignation, all my burning anger; for in the fire of my jealousy all the earth shall be consumed.”(Zephaniah 3:8)
From yesterday-Once you allow yourself to see everything from a supernatural worldview, the world, the Bible, the effects of sin, the “whys” of all that happens - all of it will actually make more sense. We just need to start having a better understanding of God Almighty, the God Most High, Creator of Heaven and Earth. The final judge who is absolutely just.
Jan Van Eyck, The Ghent Altarpiece, also known as the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb, is a large 15th-century altarpiece created by the van Eyck brothers, Hubert and Jan, and is located in St. Bavo's Cathedral in Ghent, Belgium. It is celebrated for its intricate details and is considered a masterpiece of early Renaissance art, completed in 1432. The image at the top center is their representation of God Almighty (Wiki).
A Confession
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”(James 5:16)
I wasn’t sure when I set out this week to write The Seed War just exactly where it would take me. I had no idea that my research into the Scythians would lead me back into time - even to primordial events - long before the Scythians arrived on the scene. I realized their appearance in history - as well as their reputation of loving violence, blood, and war - was actually a crumb from a long trail of evil that didn’t start in their day, but much further back.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23)
As a person with a BaptaCathoCostal background (Baptist-Catholic-Pentacostal), I’ve been on a multi-decade search for spiritual truth holding fast to my faith in the saving grace of Jesus Christ, but with an open mind to carefully examine all the rest.
This journey has been somewhat lonely because I’m not one to blindly accept and cling to any given religious system just because a guy who chants in Latin says so, or so that I will be accepted by people. This has often made me an outsider, even among my own brothers and sisters in Christ.
We are so quick to create a narrative that we can effortlessly hold on to - almost like a talisman - that neatly defines our beliefs often without considering evidence to the contrary. I think that all the religious Christian systems we’ve divided into has been a detrimental stain on God’s reputation, and a powerful tool of division for the glory of Satan’s kingdom.
In one of the most beautiful prayers in the Bible, Jesus declared His desire that we are to become “one” so that the world will believe and understand that we are God’s beloved children through Jesus Christ, the One God sent.
“…that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.”(John 17:21-23)
As a young person, as I’ve shared before, going to both the Catholic (dad) and Baptist (mom) church simultaneously, and as a young adult venturing into Pentecostal, Charismatic, Nondenominational, and Reformed churches, I’ve seen an air of superiority, disdain, dismissiveness, and even hatred for other Christians who didn’t hold to a particular church doctrine.
All Christian churches start with the core belief in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; Salvation only through repentance and faith in the grace of Jesus Christ (God in the flesh); the indwelling of the Holy Spirit; waiting for the final return of Christ at the end of days to rule and reign on the earth. Apart from these foundational beliefs, it really can’t be considered the basic teachings of Christ or legitimately called “Christian.”
When the original Apostolic teachings gave way to universal (catholic) teachings, which then became the institutional “Catholic Church” - the only Christian Church for 1,600 years - the truth was locked up, shutting out everyone except a few selected men who cooperated with the power structure.
The system grew increasingly corrupted, perverted, political, and blended with humanism, paganism, and Christianity all served up as “holy” Church doctrine. It was forced on all who lived under the Roman Empire - whether they wanted it or not. The pure faith of the first few centuries gave way to a religious and political cesspool of societal control.
Going against the Catholic Church could have actually cost you your life. Instead of true repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Savior and High Priest, it became a socially constructed club peppered with religious flavorings. The Reformation was meant to “reform” that. Instead, it just became a divisive tool.
Reconciliation
As I ventured into the scientific world (which fascinates me), I knew that I was touching on a giant religious IED buried in ancient soil ready to blow up anyone who stepped on it. But when seeming facts stare you in the face, and the desire for truth burns in your heart, what do you do? Retreat? Stay silent as potential error is taught that causes many unbelievers to shun Jesus because we look so naive?
Can we reconcile science with our faith?
To many Christians, science is equal to Satan himself. To me, it’s just our clumsy way of searching for and describing God’s world. Sure, some make it their “god” but some make a little statue their god as it jiggles on their dashboard, or swings from their neck. People make all kinds of things into a god.
Exploring our world through a tool we call “science” isn’t the problem. Our fears and lack of faith, our own pride and ignorance - that’s the real problem. I don’t want faith in my Lord to be so fragile and fickle. I want it to be sturdy and real so that even in a world locked down by the boogyman fear of a political virus, it can stand strong.
So as I entered a war zone this week to explore how we can, as Christians, gain a better understanding of our world and appreciate the wonder and majesty of such a magnificent ETERNAL CREATOR, how can I possibly just box Him up like a take out Bento lunch?
My dear beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, we serve an awesome mighty God who is 100% love and 100% justice. Our own earthly home is full of evidence of both His eternal glory and love, as well as His divine judgement and justice against evil. And it seems His judgment against the Darkness on earth hasn’t just been a one-off event.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”(Colossians 3:23-24)
Whether you believe that the world was created in six literal days about 6000-7000 years ago, or you’re like me and believe that something more happened and our home was recreated in the time of the Garden because it had become a chaotic mess, know this for certain, God’s judgement against the Satanic evil that permeates our world today is coming with a vengeance. The story of the Scythians - which we will get back to next week - was just one piece of this mysterious puzzle.
Zephaniah gives one of the most vivid and terrifying depictions of this day - “the Day of the Lord.” This is a day of divine judgment on all nations who have aligned with the will of the supernatural Darkness of Satan. Like the days of Noah, and the events taking place in Sodom and Gomorrah, He is trying in every way to wake us for His arrival.
To be continued…
Today’s Question
Today’s Prayer
Father, today I just want to offer the prayer of Jesus. I’m humbled today by my own lack of faith and your great patience in waiting for me to begin to mature in your truth. May all honor and glory be yours. Amen❤️
The High Priestly Prayer - John 17
17 When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, 2 since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. 4 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.
6 “I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7 Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. 8 For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. 9 I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.[a] 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them[b] in the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sake I consecrate myself,[c] that they also may be sanctified[d]in truth.
20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. 24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me.26 I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
